Sometimes No

1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

Matthew 26:39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

Sometimes it seems our prayers aren’t answered or maybe God isn’t listening. Scripture tells us He always listens and hears. I know He heard His Son ask for a way other than the cross. The Father answered. He said no, no other way. Then He gave His Son the ability to face the cross. The reward for the Son, resurrection and sitting at the right side of the Father for all eternity. The reward for us, salvation and being in the presence of God for all eternity. We are always to pray what is on our hearts but we are also always to be willing for God to change what is in our hearts. Next time we hear God say no to our requests let’s be sure to be opened to the best He has for us. So often we miss the best because we are only asking for the good.
