Acts 9:27 But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles and declared to them how on the road he had seen the Lord, who spoke to him, and how at Damascus he had preached boldly in the name of Jesus.

Barnabas is a good Bible study. He was a rich man who gave all he had to the ministry of the apostles without any strings attached. He didn’t mark it to go to any particular ministry but trusted their discretion. He was an encourager. He brought Paul to the apostles who were afraid of Paul’s reputation of the past and encouraged them to listen to him and give Paul a chance. Throughout the New Testament we read of Barnabas being a helper. Basically Barnabas was willing to play “second fiddle” to the needs of Paul and others. We can learn so many things from this but my point today is how we feel when others get the acclaim for the things we worked so hard on. We must ask ourselves why we do the work we do? Is it for the glory of God or for our own glory? What counts is not who gets the credit but that God gets the glory.
