Exodus 34:14 (for you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God),

The word “jealous” connotes “passion.” God is passionate for us He wants all of our love. He loves us so very much He sent His Son, Jesus, to take our place for the payment of our sins so our relationship with God can be restored. God wants nothing to stand between us and Him. He wants us to be passionate about Him as He is for us. Our question as we contemplate and plan this new year is where is our passion directed? Are we more passionate about the things in this world, the comforts and possessions we desire than we are about our relationship with God? We can tell by where our thoughts are focused most of the time. How often do we think, let alone communicate with God during our day? Let us be honest with ourselves and admit our lack of passion. Let us ask God’s Holy Spirit to increase our passion for God.
