Asking with Thanksgiving

Philippians 4:6 In nothing be anxious; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

It is fine for us to seek God with our requests but there is a key word in this verse. The key word is “thanksgiving,” We are not to ask as if the fulfillment of our request is our right, We have no rights, God doesn’t owe us anything, We are to ask in a spirit of thanks for all God has done for us. We are to ask in a spirit of thanksgiving with the knowledge that God knows what is best for us. We are to ask in thanksgiving that we are allowed to approach God and ask for anything., Our question is, how thankful are we? If we are thankful, how often do we express our thanks to God. Let us not assume He knows we are thankful. Let us give voice to our thankfulness and let us show our thankfulness to God by attesting it to others rather than complaining about what we don’t have. Let us give thanks in everything.
