Outstretched Arms

Luke 15:20 And he arose, and came to his father. But while he was yet afar off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him

The father was looking for his lost son. When he saw him coming the father didn’t know the son was coming to ask forgiveness and repent. He only knew his son was coming and rushed to him with open arms. The father’s love was for the son whether he repented or not. We tend to think God won’t love us if we aren’t good. This is because we often love others in this manner. But God loves the worst of us. He is there waiting for us to seek Him. His arms are outstretched on the cross waiting for us to come and receive His love. Repentance comes after we see His arms open for us. We have two questions to consider and answer. Have we come into God’s open, outstretched arms which enable repentance? Are we learning to love others with open arms as God loves us? God stretched out His arms to receive us into His love through His son, Jesus. He wants all to come into Him and receive His love.
