(Matthew 18:19) Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father who is in heaven.

We were moving to a new job in a new state. Our old house was on the market. We went ahead and found a new house and really wanted it even though our old house didn’t sell. We had to do some very creative financing including using our tithe for some of the monthly payments until the old house sold. We rationalized we would be using the house for church activities for our new church. We forced doors open as we prayed to get that house. We never asked God if we should have it. We assumed since we were buying it from a Christian couple and it was so close to church and perfect for church parties or housing church guest it had to be God’s will. We made the purchase happen. Within 6 months the job didn’t work out because of conflicts with our Christian ethics. We moved back to our unsold house and our old job. The new house didn’t sell for 4 years. In the meantime God blessed others by our allowing a young Christian couple to live there as caretakers rent free. When the house did sell we wrote a check at closing. We learned some big lessons. Nothing takes the place of our tithe. Don’t run ahead of God. Don’t assume because it seems right God wants it for us. Ask God and make sure peace is in the decision. God will redeem and use our mistakes but we still pay the consequences.
