2 Kings 5:2 And the Syrians had gone out in bands, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maiden; and she waited on Naaman’s wife.

Please read all of 2 Kings 5 as we will be looking at the characters in that chapter

We will get to Naaman later but right now we look at the young girl who was taken from her home and made a maid/slave to Naaman’s wife. The young girl was in a foreign country without her family, working the bidding of a stranger. She was a girl who cared for people. She observed all the treatments Naaman tried to be rid of his leprosy were unsuccessful. The girl felt bad for Naaman and wanted him free from his leprosy so she informed him about the prophet, Elisha, in her home country that had God’s healing power. She didn’t need to tell her captors that but she looked on her captors with compassion. Our question is how we look on others: not just our enemies, but our friends and neighbors. When we know of something or someone who can help them do we inform them? What about those who are doomed to hell for they have not received Jesus? Are we telling them how they can be saved and have a full abundant life? Let us be as compassionate as this little girl.
