Money’s Not Our Source

2 Kings 5:4-5 And one went in, and told his lord, saying, Thus and thus said the maiden that is of the land of Israel. And the king of Syria said, Go now, and I will send a letter unto the king of Israel. And he departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, and six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of raiment.

Someone from Naaman’s household believed the young girl and went to the King of Syria on behalf of Naaman. Since the prophet was in another country they needed their king to intercede for them. Their king agreed to send a letter to the king of Israel along with a good amount of money to purchase the time and power of the prophet to receive and heal Naaman. It is a common belief that if you pay someone enough, if you have enough money, you can have anything you want. We look to money to fix our problems rather than to the Source of Wisdom and wholeness. Let us remember to look to God through prayer and Bible study. There we will find all the answers for all our needs.
