Using the Power

2 Kings 5:7 And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? but consider, I pray you, and see how he seeks a quarrel against me.

When the king of Syria received the King of Israel’s request he panicked. He didn’t have the ability to heal leprosy. He feared this would start a war. Elisha, the prophet, heard about the kings distress and sent word to the king that he, Elisha, cold solve the problem. Today many of us are hesitant to speak up and say we can be part of the solution to a problem. We tend to think we can’t connect with the power of God through our prayers to pray, publicly, for the solutions our country so desperately needs. The questions we must address is are we being active in our Christian faith and connecting with God’s power through our quiet and vocal prayers to heal the leprosy in our country? Are we praying for the people we’ve elected to take care of the country’s business? Are we praying for the world leaders? Let us take our stand and be willing vessels for God’s power to reign through us in this earth.
