All for Good

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Many ask how God, Who is Love, can allow so much tragedy on this earth. There are two basic reasons: 1 He has given mankind freedom of choice and 2. He sees and knows more than we know. We can only see the immediate. We only see what directly affects us. We forget the phrase “ in all things.” God works more than in the immediate tragedy we see. He is working in things related to it before, during and after which we don’t know nor can see. Think through the Bible. If male babies weren’t being slaughtered Moses wouldn’t have been put in the river in a basket for Pharaoh’s daughter to find and given a good education and been known by Pharaoh and wouldn’t have been in a position to lead the Hebrews out of slavery into their promised land. Yes, it was a tragedy for all the parents of those male babies but they were in God’s hands and the good for all prevailed. What about Joseph? If his brothers hadn’t sold him into slavery, if he hadn’t been thrown into prison, he wouldn’t have been in a position to save his people from starvation. Read through the Bible and we will see how so many things we see as tragic at the time are really for a better good and a glorious purpose.
