Lacking Power

Acts 1:14 They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

After Jesus showed Himself and ascended in bodily form into heaven the believers gathered together and prayed. I’m sure interspersed with their prayers were questions. What did He mean by saying He would send another Comforter? What did He mean about giving us power? He told us to go into all the world and make disciples but said first to wait here in Jerusalem for another He was sending? They probably prayed for wisdom and understanding. We already have the answers to those questions. Why don’t we see more of the power Jesus promised? We lack enough prayer. It seems so often prayer is used only as the last resort (When all else fails, pray). We are told there is power in gathering together to pray. It is prayer that connects with the power of God. In our church we meet just before the worship service to pray. We meet in a small prayer room. We should have so many people joining us for prayer that we need a much larger room. Until we, the Body of Christ, really desire His power and really come together to pray our churches will continue to dwindle in numbers and continue to lose their impact on our neighborhoods and countries. Let us encourage each other to join together in prayer.
