Always Praying

Ephesians 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Look this verse up in your own Bible. Notice it immediately follows the verses about putting on the armor of God. After we put on the armor of God we are to pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers. Prayer is a religious word for communication with God. Prayer is to be a 2-way communication. 2-way means both do the talking but not at the same time. One talks while the other listens. We are told to pray unceasingly. That means to live and be in a continual attitude of prayer; an attitude of always being aware of the very real presence of God. We have times of praying aloud and times of praying quietly in our thoughts. We are always ready to speak with Him and listen to Him. We are always thanking Him as we behold the beauty He’s created. We intercede as we see pain. We use the sword of His Spirit, His written Word to come against evil we see or hear. Next to the Bible the best I’ve read about always praying unceasingly is the little book, “Practicing the Presence of God” by Brother Lawrence. It is a free download and I highly recommend it. Let us learn to continually be in prayer, practicing the presence of God.
