Proverbs 1:1-9 The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel: for gaining wisdom and instruction; for understanding words of insight; for receiving instruction in prudent behavior, doing what is right and just and fair; for giving prudence to those who are simple, knowledge and discretion to the young— et the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance— for understanding proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.

We tend to think we know what to pray and how to live. We trust our own carnal wisdom. We forget God has provided us with a life instruction book the Holy Bible, There is a tremendous amount of wisdom in Proverbs. We prefer to live our lives horizontally rather than vertically. That is looking to man and physical things rather than looking to God and staying focused on the spiritual. When we have a problem we try to push right through it rather than waiting on wisdom to come from God. We will be looking into several of the proverbs written by a man who asked God, not for riches or physical things but for wisdom.
