Zechariah

Luke 1:20 20 And now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true at their appointed time.” (NIV)

Luke 1:64 64 Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue set free, and he began to speak, praising God. (NIV)

Zechariah was given a promise from God but he wouldn’t believe what God said.  Because of his unbelief, he had a frustrating 9 months of not being able to talk.  When John was born Zechariah confirmed that what the angel told him God said was true and his mouth was opened.  God tells us many things both through His written word, the Holy Bible, and through the inner voice of His Holy Spirit.  When we choose not to believe we end up with unnecessary frustration and problems.  When we choose to believe, we find answers to the problems we face and find our direction for life as given to us by God to be clear and full of purpose giving us an abundant life.  God wants us to believe before we receive.  It is our believing that connects God’s timing to our space and time.  Let us be diligent listening to the written word and to the inner voice and respond in faith.  As we take the first step in faith the other steps will take us into God’s plan for our lives.
