Simeon

Luke 2:25 25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him. (NIV)

Simeon was an old man.  He was a man of prayer and worship of God.  He received a word from God that he would see the Messiah before he died.  He went to the temple daily for years, waiting in faith and patience that God would be true to His word.  Then the day came.  The Spirit within him witnessed that the baby he saw was the promised Messiah.  He blessed Mary and Joseph but then prophesied to Mary that this baby would cause the fall and the rising of many in Israel and would reveal the thoughts of hearts of many.  He also said her own heart would be pierced.  We are waiting for the return of the Messiah, Jesus.  He promised He would come back for His Bride, the believers.  How are we waiting.  Are we being faithful every day in our prayers and worship and trusting in faith?  Are we living each day in expectation?
