Luke 2:36 36 There was also a prophet, Anna, the daughter of Penuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, (NIV)

Anna also was expecting to see the Messiah in her life time.  She was so sure she refused to leave the temple.  I’m not sure if she might have thought she could possibly miss Him if she continued on with her normal life.  God doesn’t expect us to quit living where He put us by staying in a church and never leaving.  He expects us to be out amongst the people with our prayers and sharing how to worship Him while we wait His second coming.  There are times to devote exclusively to prayer and worship but we are also to incorporate prayers and worship in our public lives in order to introduce others of the love and forgiveness of God through His Son, Jesus, the Messiah.  Anna and Simeon recognized Jesus because they were looking for Him and expecting to see Him.  Are we looking with expectation to see Him at work within our lives and the lives of others? I pray we are all looking with expectation and don’t miss the marvelous ways God is at work within our lives and those around us.
