Wise Men

Matthew 2:1 1 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem (NIV)

The first visitors to come and worship God’s Son were lowly, uneducated shepherds.  Now we see well-to-do, highly educated men come from some distance to worship Him.  The worship of Jesus is for all people regardless of intellect, education, wealth or any other circumstance.  We don’t know how many were in that group.  Tradition says three because three types of gifts were mentioned.  What we do know is they traveled from afar for the sole purpose of worshiping a king.  They didn’t understand what the kingdom was to be but they knew He was an important king as His birth was announced by a bright, new star that directed the wise me to where He lay.  At this time they had moved from the stable to a house, not wanting to risk traveling back to their home town, a 5 day hard journey, with a young baby.  We will be discussing the gifts the next 3 days.  Right now, let’s fill our minds with the fact that all mankind, regardless of race, culture, education or any other characteristic all called to come and worship the Son of God.  Our question is, are we willing to be as the star and guide others to the King?
