Matthew 2:9 9 After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. (NIV)

Many people put a star on top of their Christmas tree.  They put it on top because it was a star that guided the wise men to Bethlehem to worship and present their gifts to the Christ child, Jesus.  As far as what the star actually was, there are interesting opinions on the internet.  I recommend you do a search on the Bethlehem star but I caution you to check out the source before reading.  The point is there was a star or something that appeared to be a star that guided the wise men to the right place.  As Jesus walked this earth and after His death and resurrection, we no longer need a star or light in the heavens.  Jesus is the light and when we follow Him and the precepts He has given us in His written word, the Holy Bible, we can be assured of being guided in the right direction for our lives.  Jesus is the Light of the world.  Our question for today is do we continually choose to follow the Light or do we choose to follow our own way?
