Genealogies

Matthew 1:1-2 (NIV) 1 This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham:

I’m not big on genealogies.  I’ve tried to get interested in my family’s genealogy but just can’t seem to pay much attention even though I’ve read it and been told it many times.  In the Bible, many times I tend to speed read through the genealogies.  Genealogies are part of the prophecy of the coming of Jesus.  They help tie the Old Testament and New Testament together.  In Judaism, females were basically in sequential though genealogy isn’t possible without them.  But there are 4 women listed in the genealogy of Jesus.  I will be looking at each one the next 4 days.  One prophecy said the Messiah would come through the linage of David.  The significance of the number 14 is only for the superstitious.  Some think it is because of the multiple of the number 7 which represents completeness.  If you’re interested in numerology there are several numbers in the scripture which would make interesting study.
