Matthew 4:13-14 13 Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali— 14 to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah: (NIV)

It is hard to fully understand the movements and ministry of Jesus without knowing the Old Testament prophecies.  Jesus left Nazareth because of their unbelief and refusal to accept His teaching.  So often those closest to you are the ones who are most against your succeeding.  Quite often it is because of jealously.  After Jesus’ baptism and wilderness experience He started teaching.  His teaching was the same as his cousin, John.  All must repent in order to draw near to God.  So many don’t want to admit they have anything to repent.  Though we might be harsh judges of ourselves, we don’t want to admit we are wrong because we are unsecure already and don’t want to risk more insecurity.  We are 2 days into a new year.  Hopefully we have allowed the Holy Spirit to give us a good and honest look at ourselves.  We know we are children of God and greatly loved by Him so we should be able to look honestly at our thoughts and actions or inactions and be able to see them for what they are or aren’t and repent where necessary so we can walk on in the Presence of our God.
