Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened (NIV)

What is it we are to ask?  We went over that in the Lord’s Prayer.  But after we ask, we must seek it.  To seek means to look for the answer.  So many times, the answer is looking us in the face but we don’t see it because we are looking for a pre-conceived answer.  When we think we’ve found what we are seeking we must knock on the door to see if it is really an open door.  That means we don’t force our way into the answer.  My husband and I learned this the hard way.  We were determined that a particular house was the one we were to buy and did some very creative financing to get it.  We latterly forced the sale through.  When we had to sell, it took 4 years and set us back financially for quite a while.  When we ask, we are to ask in a way that accepts the answer that God is providing for us in His way and His time.  We must check to see what we have been asking, what our attitude is in asking and what our pre-conceived answer is and give it all to God.
