Take Courage

Matthew 14:27 27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” (NIV)

The disciples weren’t sure what they were seeing was real.  They were afraid.  Jesus’ response to fear is to trust Him.  Quite often we see things that bring fear into us.  Fear isn’t bad as long as it directs us to Jesus.  He is our guide and our protector.  When we need wisdom to get out of a bad situation all we need do is ask.  He has promised to give wisdom to those who ask.  If we are in danger, we can trust Him to be with us.  He has promised never to leave us alone.  Even a past president said there is nothing to fear but fear itself.  Fear is only there to get our attention.  It’s what we do with the fear that can bring trouble.  When fear comes, we must choose to look to God immediately and trust Him.  He is never changing and is always faithful.  Right now, I am under a tornado watch.  Several people called to see if I was okay and would I like to come over with them.  There is no need.  I know Who is in charge of my life and I rest comfortably and confidently in His hands.  Let us always take courage.  It is God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  There is nothing to fear.
