Why Doubt

Matthew 14:31 31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” (NIV)

Jesus asked his of Peter as Peter was walking out to Him on the water.  Peter’s problem was he took his eyes off of Jesus and turned them on the stormy situation.  We must ask ourselves how often in a day Jesus says that to us?  How often do we focus on our circumstances instead of Jesus?  What is our first thought when we see we’re in a stormy situation?  Do we keep focused on the situation or do we turn our eyes onto Jesus?  When we do turn our eyes on Jesus, do we look at Him with the eyes of faith?  It comes down to a choice.  Either we believe what God tells us in the Scriptures or we don’t.  The Scriptures come in an entire package.  We can’t pick and choose what we will believe or what we will obey.  When we give our heart, mind and lives to Jesus it is all or nothing.  His hand is reaching down to us.  Do we choose to reach our hand up to Him so He can hold it and lead us?  Let us think and pray honestly and openly and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to us areas where we are not focused on God.
