From Thought to Mouth

Matthew 15:11 11 What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.” (NIV)

 With all the emphasis on health through nutrition many of us concentrate more on what goes in our mouth than what comes out.  What is in our thoughts quite often will spill out of our mouths.  Sometimes that happens embarrassingly fast.  This is one reason we are told to “hide the words of God deep in our hearts that we won’t sin against Him.”  The only way to do this is by daily study and meditation of His written word, the Holy Bible.  This should be what we read more than any other thing.  The Bible is our Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth.  Everything we need to know to live a full, abundant life pleasing to God is contained in its pages.  When our thoughts are on “Philippians 4:8 whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” (NIV) When we learn to keep our thoughts on these things our mouths will not speak words that defile.  Let us concentrate more on what comes out of our mouths rather than what we put into our mouths.
