Acts 1:8 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (NIV)

Jesus said we would receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on us.  This is one of the major reasons and purpose of the Holy Spirit in us.  It is to give us power to be Jesus’ witnesses in all the earth.  It’s nice to have the power to command sickness to leave a body but that isn’t our primary task.  We have been commanded to make disciples.  We have the power in the Holy Spirit to make disciples through our witness.  Our question is are we doing this?  We must each ask ourselves how many disciples have we made.  This is not the job of paid church pastors.  Their job is to feed us, the sheep of God’s flock.  Our job is to digest the food, go out from the church walls into the world and make disciples for Jesus.  We do this through the power of the Holy Spirit as He witnesses through us in our words and actions.  Let us go forth.  Let us not only digest the food of God’s word for our own growth.  Let us use it to feed the hungry and lost.  Let us make disciples for Jesus.
