Acts 12:16 16 But Peter kept on knocking, and when they opened the door and saw him, they were astonished. (NIV)

The new church was afraid.  They were huddled in a room praying.  Peter had been arrested and was in prison.  They were praying intently for Peter to be freed.  When the woman went to the door to see who was knocking she was shocked to see Peter, closed the door on him and went to tell the others.  So often we pray for things but we don’t really expect the prayers to be answered.  Because of our lack of expectation we quite often miss the answers.  They might be right in front of our faces but our doubts blind our vision to the answers.  The woman thought it was too good to be true.  How can we doubt the promise of Jesus that God hears our prayers and answers them?  When we pray, let us fill our minds with the promises recorded in Scripture.  Fill them until there is no doubt God will answer our prayers.  Then pray with the confidence God will do what He promised.  Keep praying with thanks giving and watch to see what God will do.
