Acts 27:31 31 Then Paul said to the centurion and the soldiers, “Unless these men stay with the ship, you cannot be saved.” (NIV)

They were in the midst of a storm and were afraid.  Paul knew God wanted him in Rome.  Storms, ship wrecks or snake bites wouldn’t be able to prevent what God wanted.  So often we start out on a ministry God has ordained but when things get tough we think maybe we were wrong and we jump ship.  Just because God calls us to do something doesn’t mean it will be easy.  The evil in this world will do everything to divert us from God’s leading.  When we hear the call from God and it’s confirmed, we should persevere.  Paul did.  He and all with him survived the ship wreck.  Paul survived the poison snake bite.  Paul got to Rome and delivered God’s message.  What is stopping us from persevering in what God has called us to do?  Is it inconvenience, fear, reputation or anything else?  We must examine our hearts, confess our lack, ask the Holy Spirit to renew our faith and commitment and press on with God’s calling on our lives.
