Deuteronomy 8:2 2 Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. (NIV)

When we walk through a wilderness time in our lives it is a time of testing and learning for us.  The testing is not for God to know what is in our hearts.  He knows.  It if for us to know what is in our hearts.  When we murmur and complain during a time of testing it hampers our ability to listen and learn what God is showing us.  Testing is often a pruning time.  In the wilderness or trial of struggle the things that are separating us from becoming one with Christ are lopped away if we will walk through the testing with an open heart and mind.  When we find ourselves facing a difficult time, let us remember these times are or us to learn.  We learn more about the power of God.  We learn more how dependent we are on Him.  We learn more about our own weakness.  We learn more how to look to Him for all our answers.  Let us put our complaints about our difficulty aside and fully participate in God’s schooling of testing for our benefit and for His glory.
