Return to the Wilderness

Deuteronomy 1:22 22 Then all of you came to me and said, “Let us send men ahead to spy out the land for us and bring back a report about the route we are to take and the towns we will come to.”

Deuteronomy 1:32 32 In spite of this, you did not trust in the Lord your God, (NIV)

The Hebrews saw how good the land was which God promised to give them.  They also saw the people and their fortifications in that land.  They saw them as a big problem and, instead of trusting God to fulfill His promise, the fixed their eyes on what they saw as a problem.  Because of their lack of trust they were left in the wilderness for a full generation.  We can’t judge them without looking at our own personal history.  How many times do we wallow in a problem without trusting the promises God has given us?  He said He will be with us in and through all things at all times.  He said just ask and we will receive.  He said all things are possible for us through His power and might.  We must think about the times we lacked faith and trust then ask His forgiveness and resolve to choose trust in and through each experience God allows to come our way.
