Mind of Christ

1 Corinthians 2:16 16 for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?”  But we have the mind of Christ. (NIV)

This verse seems at odds with itself.  We must look at the tenses of the verbs.  The first part is “Who has known.”  The verb has known is past perfect.  It is in the past.  Before God sent His Holy Spirit to come into the believers in His Son, Jesus, it was impossible to know the mind of God.  Now we have the Holy Spirit.  With His interpreting, the written scriptures and making them real as we meditate on them, we can come to know the mind of Christ.  We do this by reading carefully all that Jesus did and said as He physically walked this earth.  All that He said and did was to honor the Father and extend the Father’s love to all.  As we read and meditate on the words and actions of Jesus we need to visualize all that was occurring and put ourselves in the situation.  Doing this makes the written word alive in us.  As we get to know Jesus better we will get to know His mind.  This will be a life-long process.  Let us be sure to do our part by allowing the Holy Spirit to work within us.  Let us extend obedience and love to God and love to all God sends our way.
