Our Part in Their Dream

2 Chronicles 7:14 14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (NIV)

This is a promise from God with a few conditions.  First, we must be called by His name.  This means we must be followers of God’s Son, Jesus.  Second, we must humble ourselves.  We are no better than any other person.  We are each different but each valued and loved by God.  We don’t deserve God’s love or blessings but through His grace and the righteousness of Jesus, we receive His love and provisions.  Ten we must pray, seeking His face and turning from our sin.  We must admit our sins to Him, ask forgiveness and make the choice to turn away from those sins, walking in obedience to the words of God.  With those conditions, God promises to hear us.  Not only does He hear us, He forgives our sin.  Only after that will our land be healed.  We certainly need the United States healed along with many other countries in this world.  Tomorrow, July 4 we celebrate the independence of this nation which was established so people would be free to worship God in the way they choose.  What a wonderful time to start praying in the way Jesus taught us to pray and committing to pray daily for our forgiveness and for the wisdom to do our part In bringing our land into the dream the first citizens desired it to be.
