Seeing the Glory

John 11:40 40 Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” (NIV)

Jesus makes it simple.  He says if we choose to believe we will see the glory of God.  No action is required on our part other than believing. The word glory means seeing the manifestation of God.  God’s manifestation is all around us.  We miss it because we choose not to see it.  All of our life is composed of choices.  We choose what we look at, what we listen to, what we read, what we do, what we say and what we believe.  We can choose to be content or we can choose to complain.  We can choose to be at peace or we can choose to be angry.  Believing is a choice.  Trusting is a choice.  Like Job, when he said, “Thought He slay me, yet will I trust Him” with his teeth clenched against not believing or trusting.  Our problem is so often we allow our emotions to rule our thoughts rather than our choice to believe and trust God.  Emotions change, sometimes faster than the blink of an eye.  God never changes.  How much better it is to choose to believe in One Who never changes rather than something which can’t be trusted to remain.  Belief opens our eyes to see God moving in and through our lives.  Let us choose to believe in the faithfulness of God and keep our eyes open to see His manifestation in, through and around us.
