Isaiah 28:23 23 Listen and hear my voice; pay attention and hear what I say. (NIV)

This is an admonition from God.  We are to listen, hear and pay attention.  He has provided several ways for us to hear and listen.  We hear His voice as we read, study and meditate on His written word, the Holy Bible.  We also can hear His voice through circumstances.  Circumstances can encourage us in the direction we are headed or they can shut the door, turning our direction elsewhere.  We also can her His voice through His Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit’s voice is quiet and easy to miss if we don’t listen for Him to speak.  We learn to hear Him as we meditate on His written word, pray and meditate.  Gradually we become familiar with the gentle sound of His voice.  It is so very important for us to practice turning our ears to the gentle voice of the Holy Spirit.  His voice is within us because He dwells within us from the time we accept Jesus, God’s Son, into our heart, mind and life.  Learning to hear takes time and practice.  Our question is, do we want to listen for, hear and pay attention to what He would say to us?  If so, we must choose to spend the time one on one with Him without worldly interruption.  Let us be sure to go into our prayer closet regularly and hear, listen and pay attention to what the One Who loves us so much He took our sin on Himself.  Let us give Him our best time and attention.  He gives us His.
