True Faith

James 2:17-18 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. (NIV)

We can have faith that a chair will hold us but if we don’t sit in the chair, our faith in the ability of the chair to hold us is of no value.  The same is true of our faith In God through His Son, Jesus.  If our faith doesn’t produce action it is of no value.  In Revelation, we read some will claim to call Jesus Lord but He will say He doesn’t know them.  These are the people who claim to have faith, they claim to be believers, but their lives didn’t show it.  Works by itself won’t save us nor will faith by itself.  Our salvation is by grace and mercy but our reward of life with Jesus is based on our relationship with Him.  To love Him we will obey Him in order to please Him because we love Him.  True faith will always be followed by actions on that faith.  Let us work out our faith with actions according to the Word of God.
