All the Lord’s People

Ephesians 6:18 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. (NIV)

I was speaking my usual complaint about the weather when the Holy Spirit stopped me.  He had me thinking about God’s children who have no shelter and those who are being arrested, tortured and/or killed for standing firm in the faith.  He told me to think about how blessed I am to have a house with air-conditioning and to have the freedom to tell anyone about Jesus without being arrested.  Then He asked me to think about how much time I spend complaining about a little discomfort or inconvenience verses the time I spend praying for those less blessed and those persecuted for the sake of their faith in God through Jesus.  Wow.  That really smarted.  In this nation of the United States we are still free to express our faith even though some sources are trying to prevent it.  We are free to work and own houses.  We tend to take all our freedoms for granted and complain about trivial things.  I’m working on changing my attituded to discomfort or inconvenience.  When I feel the discomfort or inconvenience that is a time, instead of complaining, to lift up those who are hurting and those who are being persecuted before God’s throne of grace.  How about joining me in more consistent prayers for our brothers and sisters everywhere.
