Strength and Courage

Joshua 1:9 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (NIV)

For background read the 13th chapter of Numbers.  10 people without strong faith in the promises of God were enough to defeat the 2 who stood strong with courage on the promises of God.  So often so many of us come so close to receiving the fruition of some of God’s promises and, though we are so very close, we miss it.  When we look at the circumstances instead of the promises of God, courage fades and we turn away.  We can look at our finances and sink in despair or we can look at God’s word about finances, follow His instructions and walk forward with confidence that we will see the promises of God come about.  Our problem is where we are looking and if we are walking in obedience to the conditions God has set in His instruction manual (the Holy Bible).  Regardless of the dream, vision or promise God has given us, we must meet His conditions, obey them, walk in them and look to the end result in faith and courage that God is faithful.  If the Hebrews had listened to the 2 who believed God they would have saved themselves a lot of years and trouble.  Let us learn from their lesson.
