Health

Proverbs 4:20-22 20 My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. 21 Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; 22 for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body. (NIV)

Sunday Night I preached about healing.  There is a lot of teaching going around that says just name it, believe it and claim it.  All promises in the Bible have a condition with them.  Yes, we do live in a sinful world and are subject to the diseases in this world, but God has given us instruction on how to stay in good health.  If we smoke, we can expect heart disease or lung cancer.  If we binge on a lot of sugar and gain a lot of extra weight, we can expect diabetes.  There are many diseases and sickness that are attributed directly to our lack of discipline and eating correctly.  God has given us freedom of choice.  We can choose to maintain a healthy body for the temple of His Holy Spirit dwelling in us or we can forget wisdom and discipline and ignore the rules of good health.  The choice is ours.  When diseases of the sinful world assault us, we still have a choice to listen to the wisdom of the Holy Spirit for directions of receiving the miracle God has for us.  Let us stop blaming other things or people and take responsibility for our own health.  Let us maintain healthy minds and bodies so the Holy Spirit has a healthy home within us and can flow unimpeded through us to this sinful world.
