Drawing Near

Hebrews 10:22-23 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. (NIV)

We will look at this verse for about 3 days (maybe).  First let us look at “let us draw near to God.” God is never away from us.  He has even infused us with His Holy Spirit.  He can’t be much nearer to us than being in us.  The problem is we tend to push away from God.  Our minds and our hearts get distracted with the things of this world.  We get busy and, as long as everything is going good, we push God to the back of our minds.  We can only imagine how this must feel to God.  He sent His only Son, His spoken Word through Him He created all things, to come apart from the Father and put on flesh and suffer for our sake.  We must think how we feel when one we love pushes away from us..  We must choose to draw near to God and stay near.  We do this by immersing ourselves in His written word so it can always be in our mind.  We do this by taking time multiple times of the day to talk to Him and listen to Him.  Through doing these 2 things, we will gradually grow a strong desire to keep our minds and hearts on Him even as we do needed tasks in the world.  He is always with us.  Let us learn to always be with Him.
