Hebrews 7:12 12 For when the priesthood is changed, the law must be changed also. (NIV)

Revelation 1:6-7 6 and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen. (NIV)

Priesthood, before God sent Jesus to earth, was hereditary.  It was passed from father to son.  Jesus changed that and that is a good part of why the Jewish hierarchy wanted to kill Him.  After Jesus died and was resurrected and sent His Holy Spirit into the believers, each believer became a priest.  We no longer need the temple for sacrifices.  Jesus is the perfect lamb and was sacrificed once and for all time for each and every person.  This finished the purpose for the temple.  Now God’s temple is in each believer.  This is where the Holy Spirit resides.  It is through us, the temple’s and priests of God that prayers and worship flow.  The law said sacrifices are to be made in the temple.  Now the sacrifice is finished and we are to sacrifice praises to God.  All holy days were to be celebrated in Jerusalem in the temple.  They could not be celebrated anywhere else.  That law is also changed.  We celebrate everywhere we go for we carry the Holy Spirit with us.  Let’s take good care of God’s temple (our bodies) and take our responsibilities as priest (worshiping God and spreading the news of His saving grace and love) everywhere we go.
