1 Peter 2:21 21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. (NIV)

We don’t like the word “suffer.”  We don’t want to think about suffering.  I don’t like to think about how much Jesus suffered for me.  The thought is painful.  I know I cannot relate or comprehend the amount of His suffering and, quite frankly, I don’t like to think about it.  I know I will never have to experience such suffering.  But today, we define suffering as any inconvenience.  We’ll go witness for Jesus if all conditions are right.  We want to know we’ll be received, not ridiculed.  Maybe it’s raining hard so we decide we needen’t go to church and gather with other believers.  We are so full of excuses when things aren’t comfortable for us.  To know Jesus means we are willing to experience any suffering necessary in proclaiming the gospel and reaping the harvest for His glory.  We must look at our lives and see what things we exclude and for what reasons when the Holy Spirit nudges us to reach out or speak out.
