1 Corinthians 9:26-27 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. (NIV)

I am a person who likes change.  I like a lot of change.  People don’t get up in the dark in my house without using a light for I might have rearranged a room while they were in bed.  My  likeness for change often shows in my Bible study and in the devotions.  Sometimes it appears I’m all over the place.  There is nothing wrong with change.  What counts is keeping my focus on my goal.  My goal is to know Jesus, fully and to share the knowledge He give me with others.  The way to the goal changes with conditions within and around me, but the goal never changes.  When we study God’s written word we must be sure of our goal.  It isn’t to show others how much we know about the Bible.  It is for us to know God through His Son, Jesus.  It is to really know Him in a very personal and experiential way.  I write these devotions for my own benefit.  At the same time, I share them in case they might benefit others.  The benefit of others isn’t my goal.  My goal is for me to know and through that knowledge to share in the work of Jesus that others will come to the Father through Him.  We must each know our goal and keep our focus on that goal.  Our steps to that goal may vary from others and even vary in the way we work to achieve that goal but in all cases, we are to keep our eyes on our goal: to know our God.
