Colossians 2:9-11 9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, 10 and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority. (NIV)

Everyone has some authority over something or someone.  Parents have authority over their children.  Teachers have authority over their students.  Employers have authority over their employees.  Kings have authority over their subjects.  But over all the worldly authorities, God is the ultimate authority.  So many of us fight against God’s authority.  We want our lives the way we want them when we want them.  It is God Who gifts us in certain and different ways.  It is God Who chooses the path each of us should walk for the glory of God and for our own joy and fulfillment.  So often we pray amiss because we haven’t opened our heart and minds to the path God is calling for us.  It’s usually beyond our ability to know our total path throughout our life.  We need only to know our path for the day we are living.  We do this by asking God, daily, what His purpose is for that day, what steps He wants us to take that day.  This is the only way to have a day of joy, peace and fulfillment.  As we read in the Bible the various tasks various people were called to accomplish we get an idea of the differences in the callings of individuals.  Just look at Joseph’s life.  So many things he went through appeared to be adverse to a joyful, fulfilling purpose, yet each adversity he faced prepared him for a calling to save a nation.  We need to choose trust in God for the steps we face as we walk with Him in pure, trusting and faithful obedience to the calling He chooses for us.
