Hebrews 12:28 28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, (NIV)

Because we can call God Father we seem to have lost reverence for Him.  We gather together and enjoy talking with each other before the worship service starts.  We have trouble settling down.  We enjoy the songs that lead to loud rejoicing, dancing and clapping.  Reverence means to hold in high esteem, respect.  Respect means to admire deeply and have high admiration.  We are so quick to pray for things.  We pray, “God I need…. God please do…..God help with…..” and so on.  Many of our songs are asking for things from God.  We need to spend more time revering God for Who He is.  One time, when I was in the hospital my children said they missed me, not for what I did, but just for being with me.  Wow.  What a statement of love.  God wants us to enjoy being with Him.  Yes, He said we could ask Him for what we needed but that should be secondary.  As we approach Thanksgiving, let us concentrate on thankfulness.  After we thank God for all He has done for, let’s praise Him for Who He is.  Let’s enjoy sitting quietly in His Presence.  Let’s enjoy knowing He is in us through His Holy Spirit.  Let us express our love.  Let us listen.  Let’s revere God.
