Immanuel

Isaiah 7:14 14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. (NIV)

Matthew 1:23 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us” (NIV)

The definition of Immanuel is in the above verse.  Until Jesus, the Word of God, came into the world as a baby, God wasn’t with us.  He saw us.  He spoke to a few chosen people.  But, ever since mankind put a wedge between God and mankind in the Garden of Eden through disobedience, God was no longer with us.  Jesus came, not only to pay the ultimate and only price for mankind sins, He also came to show us the Triune God.  He demonstrated God’s love and power as He walked this earth in human form.  People were able to see Him, hear Him and touch Him.  His human body has left us for awhile but will come back at the Father’s appointed time to collect God’s children.  In the meantime, He has given us the Person of the Holy Spirit to be even closer to us than He was to those when He physically walked this earth.  The Holy Spirit indwells in each person who has invited Jesus into their hearts, minds and lives.  No one can get closer than that.  What a wonderful gift.  We are never apart from God.  Our bodies will die but we already are experience eternal life in the very real presence of God.
