Son of God

Psalms 2:7 7 I will proclaim the Lord’s decree: He said to me, “You are my son; today I have become your father. (NIV)

Matthew 3:16-17 16 As soon as Jesus was baptize. H    , he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased  (NIV)

Several of the world’s religions agree Jesus was a prophet.  Christianity (not a religion but a way of life) knows and honors Jesus as the only begotten Son of God.  We’ve looked at the linage tracing Jesus back to the beginning.  When Jesus submitted to baptism by John the Baptizer as an example to us, the Father declared and validated Jesus’ Sonship.  We are also validated as adopted children of God when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior declaring obedience to Him.  As part of that obedience we declare our adoption by being baptized as a demonstration of our being dead to the penalty of sin and alive in Jesus for eternity.  It was Jesus when He taught us to pray told us we could call God, “Our Father.”  When we really think of Who God is, it is incredible that we can call the Creator of all that was, is or will ever be “Father.”  We must review our lives and see what kind of children we are.  How do we show our love for our Father?
