Isaiah 50:6 6 I gave My back to those who beat Me, and My cheeks to those who tore out My beard.
I did not hide My face from scorn and spitting. (NIV)

Matthew 26:67 67 Then they spit in His face and beat Him; others slapped Him.  (NIV)

Spitting in the face is an indignity.  It is a way of saying what you spit on means nothing, is totally worthless.  In Revelation 3:16 we read, “So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” (NIV)  It was prophesied Jesus would be treated as worthless. God gives us a warning.  We must consider what it means to be “lukewarm.”  Do we use prayer as an emergency when we’ve tried all we could but nothing seems to work?  Do we only talk to God when we want something?  Does God really come in first place in our heats and minds.  My constant prayer is for God to keep the fire of His Hoy Spirit ignited in me and blazing.  We must look at how we spend our time, what we think the most about, what we talk the most about.  The choice is ours.  Do we want God to spit us out because we are lukewarm?
