Love Delayed

John 11:5-6 5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 6 So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days (NIV)

Notice this starts out affirming the love Jesus had for Lazarus, Martha and Mary.  Also notice the word “so.”  The “so” says because Jesus loved them He delayed going to their aid.  We would expect, because of love, Jesus would rush to their aid.  Jesus knew this would be a faith building time for them.  When we are going through trials and pray for God to help us, sometimes it seems He doesn’t care.  We pray and pray and nothing seems to happen.  The majority of our trials are from our own choosing because we don’t always consult the Holy Spirit on our choices.  But God is able to take our own mistakes and turn them into a learning experience for us and glory for Him.  God’s timing is very different from ours.  God does love us.  He loves us so very much He wants us to grow in faith and in an intimate relationship with Him.  Nothing teaches us better than going through a trial.  The next trial we face, let us affirm God’s love for us and walk through the trial listening to the Holy Spirit and praising God for what we can learn through the trial.  God loves us enough to trust us to walk through the trial and come closer to Him through that walk.
