Jeremiah 29:11-12 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  (NIV)

As we looked over our past year and note the times we failed, it might make us afraid to take chances moving forward in this new year.  We need not fear our failures for God is bigger than our failures.  When things are successful we tend not to look to God.  In the midst of our failures, we go to the next verse.  Jeremiah 29:12 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. (NIV)  In our own self-righteousness human nature we tend to take pride in our own confidence and successes.  It is when we go though hard times and failures we will remember to look to God.  Maybe after enough failures we will learn to look to God first, seeking His wisdom and direction for all our choices.
