Matthew 1:5-6 5 Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab, Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth, Obed the father of Jesse, 6 and Jesse the father of King David. David was the father of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah’s wife, (Bathsheba) (NIV)

The Hebrew custom in writing about the genealogy was to omit mentioning any woman.  We must look at the women I highlighted in the genealogy of Jesus.  Rahab was a prostitute, Bathsheba laid with David even though she was married to Uriah.  God chose to include names of those who lived in sin.  He did this to show us it is His grace.  Our sin will not deter God from working His grace and bringing His will and His glory about.  There is no sin we can commit as a believing child of God that isn’t covered by the blood of God’s Son Jesus.  All we need do for forgiveness is confess our sin to God and allow the blood of Jesus to cover it and open ourselves to the grace of God.  We must stop beating ourselves up over old sins that have been confessed and forgiven by God. God used sinful Rahab to save 2 spies thereby bringing victory to the Hebrews.  God used Bathsheba to bring for David, a man after God’s own heart.  God will use us if we open ourselves up to His grace.
