Matthew 26:73 73 And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee. (KJV)

This is taking place during the mock crucifixion trial of Jesus.  Earlier Peter claimed he would always be faithful even if he was the only one.  This is the third time during the night Peter denied knowing Jesus.  But what we look at today is it was his speech that gave him away and made them suspicious.  We must question our speech.  Does what comes out of our mouths betray us as believers and followers of Jesus or does it show we aren’t believers and followers of Jesus?  What we say and how we say it reflects who we are and what we believe.  Are we critical of others?  Are we complainers?  Are we braggers?  The list can go on and on.  Let us always try to honor our God with what we say, how we say it and when we say it.
